Heinrich Neurath founded a company in Karben for the manufacture of office furniture.

Heinrich König, the son-in-law of Heinrich Neurath, joined the company. The company name König + Neurath, which has remained unchanged to this day, was established.

Egon König, the son of Heinrich König and current owner, joined his father`s company. At that time, the production space of the original plant in Karben was 3000 square metres.

In Karben, the first section of this plant covering an area of 10 000 square metres was built. Today it houses the head office, as well as an exhibition and consulting centre.

König+Neurath took over the renowned company Holzäpfel in Horb am Neckar. Here, "INwand" brand cupboards and partitions are manufactured.

The pioneer Heinrich König retired and Egon König became the sole owner of the company.

König+Neurath arranged its first European sales partnerships.

As part of its consistent development to becoming a full supplier for the office environment, König + Neurath presented its first seating range at Orgatec in Cologne.
The original factory in Karben was transformed into an ultramodern metalworking plant.

König+Neurath acquired a new production plant in Kassel and concentrated the production of high-quality executive suites and cupboards there.

Following German reunification, new markets were created. König + Neurath responded with the construction of Europe`s most modern furniture factory in Weißensee (Thuringia).
In September, this plant with 25.000 square metres of production space, went into operation and 190 new jobs were created in a very short time.

König + Neurath pushed ahead with new quality standards and was granted certification according to DIN EN ISO 9001.

König + Neurath committed itself to environmental management according to the provisions of EWG Ordinance No. 1836/ 93. At the same time, the König + Neurath private limited company was restructured in a public limited company.

The foundation stone was laid for the new showroom and training centre in Karben. The modern environment and function-specific designs create the ideal setting for training and seminars, and dialogue with dealers and end-users.

With the acquisition of Bolte, the manufacturer of metal office furniture based in the Saarland, König + Neurath extended its range still further. The number of employees in Karben, Kassel, Weissensee and Saarwellingen rises to 1340.

The company`s 75 year jubilee. Incorporation of Holzäpfel under the König+Neurath brand. Expansion of the metal-working capacity in an additional 22 000 square metres.

New types of office environment and the ever-faster changes to the structures of work, offices and organisations – these all demand flexible systems Development of a product study in cooperation with the University of Stuttgart for a new type of relocatable partition, which has since been successfully launched under the name two2one.

With the construction of a new production facility behind the main factory in Karben, König + Neurath extends its total floor space to some 150.000 sq.m.On 01 August 2007, Egon König moved to the Supervisory Board, transferring his position as Chairman of the Board of Management to Dr. Wolfgang Reising.

The König + Neurath Niederlande subsidiary is moving into a new, modern office building in Lijnden near Amsterdam.

Orgatec 2008: König + Neurath once again demonstrated its powers of innovation and requirement for integrated solutions to create more efficiency and productivity in the office with new products INSIDE.60, PLENUM.K, TALO.S and the world task chair innovation SENSONA. A further highlight was the presentation of the concept study initiated by König + Neurath and Zumtobel on the office of the future, entitled “Experiment Zukunft”.

König + Neurath is investing in more efficient production for lower order volumes by implementing the new cutting centre for manufacturing small parts automatically. This will enable König + Neurath to react even more quickly to changing market demands and customer requirements that are becoming more individual and diverse all the time.

Orgatec: König + Neurath is setting new standards for the design of multifunctional zones in the office with the NET.WORK.PLACE programme. The new interactive chair concept LAMIGA is convincing with its ergonomically perfect fit, which is due to its synchro mechanism and adjustable backrest with the innovative ERGODISC.

In Karben the K+N CITY concept was realised in the show room.
